Individual Counseling
Our Counseling Philosophy
Sentio Counseling Center provides individual counseling for adults (ages 18+) from all backgrounds, ethnicities, gender identities, and income levels. We use a wide range of therapeutic modalities to help people with cognitive, emotional, and behavioral issues across all stages of life. Our counselors are trained to support you in a variety of ways to get the results you want out of counseling.
Research and collaboration are keys to our treatment approach. The first priority for every therapeutic relationship is to understand your experience and preferences for counseling. Treatment is customized to meet your goals in ways that fit with your values, culture, and identity. SCC counselors use empirically supported treatments and take care to check in regularly to ensure that we are giving you the best service possible.
How We Can Help
Life can be complicated. You might feel like something needs to change and you’ve tried just about everything. Perhaps the advice of family and friends hasn’t worked either, or maybe it seems like the advice was meant for someone else. Maybe you don’t even feel comfortable talking to the people in your life about your problems. There is no single way to navigate life’s challenges, but counseling can help to identify the way that fits right for you. SCC counselors will help you to determine goals for counseling and create new ways to see the changes you want for yourself and your relationships.
Counseling begins with an intake session for you and your counselor to discuss what’s bringing you to SCC and what you hope to get out of sessions. With this information, you and your counselor will work together to determine if you want support that is more calm and curious, challenging and direct, or anywhere in between. SCC counselors most often use an integrative approach that matches your needs with the most helpful questions, perspectives, and tools. Our goal is simple: to help you feel empowered to tackle all that life has to offer in the way that feels right for you.
